Ranking Of Top Online Degree Programs

Top schools for online bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

US News Report.

Online course enrollment in the United States hit an all-time high in 2010 with more than 6.1 million students, and the trend shows no signs of leveling off, according to a 2011 report by the Babson Survey Research Group.
Enrollment in online classes doubled between 2007 and 2011, driven largely by a stagnant economy and competitive job market, but also by robust online offerings from established public and private institutions, according to the report. At more than 2,500 colleges and universities surveyed, 65 percent of administrators say that online learning is a vital piece of their institution's long-term strategy.

The numbers represent the rankings in each category, but there is no overall ranking.

Key to Buoyancy and Triumph

Time. One more period of time is almost over. 2011.
Game. One game is almost over.

Another one is about to start. 2012.

Celebrate the Unlimited Discovery!
I can well imagine how important this year has been for some of you. You are just completing a critical phase of your campus life. Some of you graduated with flying colors and entering the real world.

Do a thorough analysis of the year in terms of how you have performed.  Be bold to discover yourself.  How have you invested an average of 2000 quality hours? How can we allocate the time for New Year just like corporations allocate their budgets sensibly?

In a way, this is more important than the real budgets. Because time is most precious.

Another game is going to start in couple of days. 2012.
We need to welcome it. We can better do it because we are well learned and thoughtful.

I take this opportunity to desire our aspirations fly high for great discovery of ourselves. That is the key to buoyancy and triumph.

Wish you and your loved ones Very Happy and Prosperous New Year. God Bless.

Your Power GPA and Beyond ....

We are almost there at end of the year and the close of fall semester. Some of you are graduating this semester by completing everything required for the course. Good job!

Those of you who are half way through your graduate program, this is a good time to measure your progress with GPA - Grade Point Average. There are tools available in your library and online through internet research. Add the rationale of historic grading system of your respective school to this and come up with approximate grade or GPA score. Have this saved with you.

Now, you have set a goal for yourself to reach by the end of your course program. See the estimated GPA and ascertain as to where do you stand with the expectation. You have the advantage of making it up in the remainder of the semesters if you have fallen short of your expectation.

This may sound like a simple approach. However, often times this is ignored and backlog mounts to a pressure level to add stress during the last semester of your program. Take it seriously as this is critical and decisive in landing in your dream career.

A    4.0

B+  3.33

You would love to be at A+ or A.

Now that the career choice is made ....

Happy Monday!

We discussed the important launch last week. Graduate students hitting the real practical world supported by the life experience of what the learned at the school and overall from student life. They also carry the personal and social responsibility to live up to the expectations of elders and society they belong to.

Ok, now since the decision and choice have been made on the very career launch, there are few things these students must embrace and practice in work life. I indicated few of them in our last blog.  The communication, team work, attitude, hard work, problem solving, logical thinking, solution based approach etc.  Excited? Please stick me.

Excited?
Let us discuss some of them in detail here.

Communication:  This is going to be one of the major success factors, to communicate properly and continuously. What goes in your mind is not known to others at work especially when you are new in the team. Pros or Cons, Forward or backward, question or answer – Please do communicate and share the thoughts on work regularly.

Team work, hard work and Attitude:  These are self-explanatory and enough is learned over the years. It is relevant to get aligned with the work environment and culture – this varies from company to company, organization to organization.  Developing a positive attitude would make an approachable person for colleagues and this goes long way in your growth.

Time management:  Leadership Guru Stephen Covey has said “To be successful, you must live from your imagination”. “First things first”.   There is always going to be challenging tasks in your plate – something important for you and the organization. Pick up the tasks which are important on a balanced analysis basis and prioritize them. Have a tight work calendar and follow it. You will end the word day by achieving tasks which are important for you, team and organization. This will result in job satisfaction and achieving a meaningful work day.

Career launch is golden time!
Learning:  Steve Jobs said “Be hungry, be foolish” during his 2005 address to graduate students at Stamford University. He is right in asking young talents to be learners continuously. Not to judge or be over confident.  There is always scope of learning every day which can increase the quality and efficiency of your work.

Ownership and Solution: Taking full responsibility of the task and delivering it is well accepted by Managers across the industries for many ages! There is less room for employees who whimper, Complain and those who act like strangers to issues. Be result oriented and aware of full responsibility always.

Effectiveness and Efficiency: Most organizations would like their employees to be efficient, that is doing the things right per the written rules, policies and strategies. This is required when you look at the big picture for the organization to achieve its goals thereby to achieve individual’s goals too.  However, there are instances when organization calls out to employees to provide suggestions and ideas for a critical issue or to identify new opportunities. This is effectiveness. Please utilize all such opportunities to prove your mettle.

Measurement:  Have a method to measure your progress by yourself. Take feedbacks and comments from colleagues. Ask your boss informally what he or she thought of your work in last few weeks, months and so on. Use this information for your analysis and see what you come up with and areas you need improvement. This measurement will help you stay ahead of the curve and competition.

Graduate Program Outlook 2012

“How can the higher education system enroll more students to its programs?

This is a question that institutions have been asking for a long time and quite often. I remember reading a report recently about Canada where it stated that international students contribute more to their economy through their universities and their respective scholarship programs. In the same way, domestic scholarship system also needs a boost and a blessing from the industry.

SUNY Buffalo NY
I think several state universities like the SUNY schools in NY are helping international students, who are the cream of the talent, to graduate with reasonable tuition fees. They have about 63 education centers across the state and an average of 40,000+ new graduate admissions every year. The overall strength of their alumni is beyond astounding – it is about 3 million!  I am personally proud to acknowledge that I have hired high caliber graduate students from there in the course of visiting their campuses for career fairs.  They are real stars in performance and innovation.

A major concern for the nation is Brain drain. Many of the international students return to their homes and subsequently crisscross the continent with various career moves. Knowledge and trained skills do not remain within. Top innovators such as Apple, Microsoft, Google and Amazon are building programs to address this very concern. This is Good news! Several reputed technology solution providers like Marlabs have established well-planned and proven Graduate hiring programs in campus centers across North America to retain talent within the nation and the industry.

At the same time, it is the responsibility of the graduate job seeker to ask the right questions and understand if the potential employer has futuristic plans. For engineering and computer science graduates, the Computer World has published the Hot skill sets in information technology for 2012. If one is passionate about User Interface HTML5 - new JavaScript also may be explored in large scale web application development. In this context - number of admissions/new enrollment for 2012 looks very promising for higher education.

As I have repeatedly emphasized before, I will do so again - human civilization has crossed the stone age, the industrial age, the information age and now it has embarked upon the Talent Age! Talent is your new power. Talent is your new economy. Talent age rules. You hold the key!”
